Charles Mingus - Discography |
|
Band leader, double bass specialist and occasioned piano player, Charles Mingus was one of the most influential figures of jazz music during his years of activity. He was able to move jazz style towards the contemporary music as far as political and concerned themes, specifically the racial integration ("Fables Of Faubus" a composition dedicated to Alabama's governor). Many important jazz musicians started their career working with Mingus, as the innovator of flute and wind instruments Roland Kirk, but it must be mentioned in particular his drummer Dannie Richmond, at his side for the whole life, including also an incursion in the "entertainments" of the city of Tijuana, that gave to him the inspiration for the wonderful album Tijuana Moods. Mingus influence has arrived also into the rock scene, the folk-rock group Pentangle has choosen his composition Good Bye Pork Pie Hat for the album Sweet Child, and Joni Mitchell recorded a whole album dedicated to the great musician. |
