The Style Council

THE WHOLE POINT OF NO RETURN

The lords and ladies pass a ruling
That sons and girls go hand in land
From good stock and the best breeding
Paid for by the servile class
Who have been told all lie in state
To bow down forth and face their fate
It's so easy.
So, so easy

All righteousness did build thy arrow
To shoot it straight into their lies
Who would expect the mighty sparrow
Could rid our world of all their kind?

Rising up and taking back
The property of every man
Oh it's easy.
So, so easy

Rising up to break this thing
From family trees the dukes do swing
Just one blow to scratch the itch
The law's made for and by the rich
It would be easy.
So, so easy.

THE PARIS MATCH

Empty hours spent combing the street

In daytime showers they’ve become my beat;

As I walk from café to bar

I wish I knew where you are;

Because you’ve clouded my mind

And now I’m all out of time.

Empty skies say try to forget

Better advice is to have no regret;

As I tread the boulevard floor

Will I see you once more;

Because you’ve clouded my mind

‘Till then I’m biding my time.

I’m only sad in a natural way

And I enjoy sometimes feeling this way;

The gift you gave is desire

The match that started my fire.

Empty night with nothing to do

I sit and think every thought is for you;

I get so restless and bored

So I go out once more;

I hate to feel so confined

I feel like I’m wasting my time.

MY EVER CHANGING MOODS

Daylight turns to moonlight — and I’m at my best

Praising the way it all works — gazing upon the rest;

The cool before the warm

The calm after the storm;

I wish to stay forever — letting this be my food

But I’m caught up in a whirlwind and my ever changing moods.

Bitter turns to sugar — some call a passive tune

But the day things turn sweet — for me won’t be too soon;

The hush before the silence

The winds after the blast;

I wish we’d move together — this time the bosses sued

But we’re caught up in the wilderness and an ever changing mood.

Teardrops turn to children — who’ve never had the time

To commit the sins they pay for through — another’s evil mind;

The love after the hate

The love we leave too late;

I wish we’d wake up one day — an’ everyone feel moved

But we’re caught up in the dailies and an ever changing mood.

Evil turns to statues — and masses form a line

But I know which way I’d run to if the choice was mine;

The past is knowledge — the present our mistake

And the future we always leave too late;

I wish we’d come to our senses and see there is no truth

In those who promote the confusion for this ever changing mood.

A GOSPEL

Handed down from fathers to Sons

Was the hatred of weakness and the love of guns;

A talk of peace but not in our time

To save our souls and stop the crime;

Onwards and upwards but going nowhere

So how many now truthfully swear

That they do no evil — see no wrong;

The ad-mass agents, the writers of song

The bankers, the poets, the modern day seers

Clouding an issue that was never quite clear.

Sent through the ages of boy to man

The living testament of making a stand;

Killing the wicked then raising the dead

Eating propaganda and shit spoon fed;

Grasping for wisdom, but thick all the same

So how many innocent now can claim

That they play with fire — and get burnt

And through the same mistakes never get learnt;

Hoping for a time it will fall to place

Faith shall show as our saving grace.

Handed down from god with love

Was the whole wide world and some above;

But not content to share the land

Handed down from fathers to sons

Was the hatred of weakness and the love of guns;

A talk of peace but not in our time

To save our souls and stop the crime;

Onwards and upwards but going nowhere

So how many now truthfully swear

That they do no evil — see no wrong;

The ad-mass agent, the writers of song

The bankers, the poet, the modern day seers

Clouding an issue that was never quite clear.

Passed on over to the chosen few

Was the promise of freedom with a breadline queue;

Ghetto’s, gateaux and eating it too

Forcing it all down with a cola brew;

The first amendment and the hunt for reds

4 conscious contradiction with something said

That they see no evil — with eyes shut tight;

A cocaine culture that offers no fight

Dragged from birth — drugged to death

The common excuse is ‘just being yourself’

Hand us down before it’s too late

The strength and wisdom to change our state;

Governed by evil and all it will bring

I can’t wait for the day they do the lamppost swing;

And no mercy should they be shown

For you cannot reason with the devil’s own;

They say, they hear no evil — hands clasped tight

To shut out the victims’ screams of ol’ Uncle Sam fight

He sweat and he strains as his boney frame comes —

into the womb of an innocent one.

STRENGTH OF YOUR NATURE

Root.   When you gonna find the strength of your nature

            When you gonna let yourself take control.

Then Make your own up!

YOU'RE THE BEST THING

I could be discontent and chase the rainbows end

I might win much more but lose all that is mine;

I could be a lot but I know I’m not

I’m content just with the riches that you bring.

I might shoot to win and commit the sin

Of wanting more than I’ve already got;

I could runaway but I’d rather stay

In the warmth of your smile lighting up my day (the one that makes me say heh).

Cause your the best thing to ever happen to me or my world

Your the best thing that ever happened — so don’t go away.

I might be a king and steal my peoples things

But I don’t go for that power crazy way;

All that I could rule but I don’t check for fools

All that I need is to be left to live my way (say listen what I say).

I could chase around for nothing to be found

But why look for something that is never there;

I may get it wrong sometimes but I’ll come back in style

For I realise your love means more than anything (the song you make me sing-yeah).

HERE’S ONE THAT GOT AWAY

The pub talk, the scandals, like vandals they try to tear you down.

The whispers, turn rumours, there’s no truth but that don’t stop those cats

They need the little bit extra, they don’t mind if it’s only conjecture.

They tried to tell me I wasn’t full time, I tried to think of an alibi.

I felt so awful I spat in their faces and ran for my life.

They need that little bit extra, they don’t mind if it’s only conjecture.

They tried to tell me their’s was the right way.I tried to shout that

was a lie, I felt so sick I spat on their lifestyles with a runaway pride!

Untouched by unhuman hands, ‘cause only god knows I don’t call that a man.

Who spends his waking days, telling others what to think and what to say.

They tried to tell me I wasn’t normal, I tried to shout there’s no such thing!

I felt so sick I spat on their lifestyles with a runaway pride!

So catch me if you can, ‘cause I would rather be dead than live like that -

hey, hey, hey!

HEADSTART FOR HAPPINESS.

When I find you waiting hours oh,

You’re there to save my life for our obvious goal;

We’ve got a headstart for happiness

For our part, guess we must be blessed, for this feeling to be so strong

Tell me is that so wrong?

The space between us for days has been so far;

I’ve spent a lonely week

Now I wanna be where you are

We’ve got a headstart for happiness, for our part.

Guess we must be kissed by this force 1 feel inside

Now I’m not gonna hide.

All the roads that lead to struggles bring you back to where you need

Some reassurance in your own depth, only you can see, but let others feel

Peace in my mind

I’m so happy to find

As I get on my trek with a headstart back to you.

You’ll find it can happen

You’ll find you’ve got the strength

You can move a mountain

You just need the confidence

In yourself and all you’ve got to take this world and shake it up

Let no one say they’re better than you

You must believe you’ve got the power.

When I find you waiting hours oh,

It’s my heart, not my head that takes control.

And you’ve got to lead where your heart says go

And hope that it turns out so.

And that’s all you can hope for

Can you expect much more?

Naive and wise with no sense of time

As I set my clock with a heart beat, tick, tock

Violent and mild common sense says

I’m wild with this mixed up fury, crazy beauty

It’s to find all these feeling inside

As I get on my trek with a headstart back to truth
