At the end of 1965, an important year for popular music, The Beatles with Rubber Soul released (on December 3 1965) their first album autonomous and independent from the 45rpm singles for the charts. It contains another of the greatest masterpieces of the Beatles, Norwegian Wood, written by John, in which they are introduced, for the first time in Western music, new sounds from the world, and in particular from India, with the use for the first time of the sitar. In addition they are included two future great successes for the quartet, Girl and Michelle.
